NARS Satin Lip Pencils Review, Photos && Swatches

Hello my lovelies? How is everyone doing thus far? I hope well as always.

Today I am going to be talking about the new Satin Lip Pencil's by NARS! I have been playing with these for the past two weeks and had to share my thoughts. Now as we all know, NARS is a highly recognized brand all over the world and they are constantly developing new products as well as keeping up with the trends. A huge trend for Spring 2013 is a nice gloss-like lip that also packs a punch with it's color. Of course, NARS had to step in and create their own product to fit into the trend but not quite exactly like everyone else.

You constantly hear people rave about the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil's by NARS for it's highly pigmentation as well as it's convenience. You're able to stick a pencil in your makeup bag with no fuss and able to re-apply throughout the day as necessary. Which is nice that NARS decided to create the Satin Lip Pencil's specially for those who need a little more moisture on their lips.

Matte lippies can be very drying on the lips and can make your lips look cracked and ready to be peeled like a banana. Unlike the matte lip pencil's, the satin lip pencils are completely different. As you apply the pencil to your lips it glides on like butter! Very soft and creamy (minus the greasy) and you can feel as soon as you apply the color how hydrating the formulation is. The satin lip pencil's have Vitamin E and also pomegranate fruit extract which gives it that creamy and nourishing texture. For those of you who suffer from extremely drying lips have no fear because these lip pencil's also include Hyaluronic Acid Complex! Those of you who use a lot of skin care products know what I mean when you read that and some of you maybe looking at it like what? Basically Hyaluronic Acid is considered to be "nature's moisturizer" because it's a water loving molecule. It helps to bind water together and lock in moisture where hydration is mostly needed and in this case it would be the lips. Those of you who feel that your lips are looking smaller and less full this product would be amazing for you as well considering it is infused with Collagen Prepetides! Peptides are amazing for those who need more collagen and plump added back to certain areas.

The first color I choose is called "Yu" which is described as a bright Pink but I feel like it leans more into a fuchsia color just not as bluish if I must say.

Next we have "Lohdi" which is described as a coral and I would have to agree on that. It is really light yet bright at the same time.

The last one which is my favorite is called "Luxembourg" which is described as a watermelon color but I feel like it leans toward Raspberry instead. It is very cool toned if you ask me but hey, other people will say different.

As you can clearly see in the picture of swatches, they are very shiny! However, when you wear them they don't look as shiny as if you've bitten into a piece of fried chicken. They give you the perfect amount of shine. The texture and hydrating abilities absolutely amazed me! I kept looking the mirror to see if the shine had diminished just a little and every time I would look the shine was still there. I was able to rub my lips together without feeling skin ready to be bitten off lol. The pigmentation is amazing as well as being easy and quick to apply. However, yes I said it, HOWEVER, I saw feathering within the first thirty minutes of wearing them. Within three hours of wearing the pencil's, I had experienced fading in the inner part of my lips and a messy glossy look outside of my lips. I know that when products are extremely hydrating they can get a bit messy throughout the day but for $25.00 per pencil, I at least would like the color to last past three hours! I also would have liked a variety in the color selections. All of the colors I have seen are very neutral and very blah. The three you see up top are the only colors that had actually caught my attention.

Overall I really do like these lip pencil's and the texture and moisture they provide for my lips. Specially since this winter has been horrible to me I do feel like my lips have been dying for more hydration. However, Spring and Summer are right around the corner and because the lip pencil's are so moist and soft I don't think I will be wearing these as much this time of year. I'm afraid that they'll melt right off my face. For winter though I will definitely keep a few of these in my bag. Let's hope that they'll come out with better colors though ; )
